Spine supports our entire physical structure therefore problems related to spine can adversely affect all aspects of the body’s normal functioning. Robotic spinal surgery is at present the most accurate and efficient way of treating spinal injury. Ultimate goal of robot guided less invasive spinal surgery is to increase the chances of complete recovery for patients and to have a productive and active lifestyle. Spinal surgery has now evolved and more focus is being placed on minimizing trauma to the body during surgery and perform surgery through the use of minimally invasive techniques. The era of modern spinal surgery has drastically progressed over the past 15 to 20 years as a result of scientific research and advancements which include minimally invasive surgery, genetic testing, next generation spinal implants, stem cell research and the use of biologic agents to promote spinal healing.
The most trusted and approved technology is the Mazor Renaissance Robot which allows both complex and minimally-invasive spine surgery procedures to be carried out with extreme precision, accuracy and efficiency. The robot rotates and bends its arm very smoothly on the spine in specific locations. This movement provides perfect and highly accurate guidance which is very important in ensuring ultimate efficiency and accuracy in the placement of implants. Hip replacement surgery is recommended to replace the damaged hip joint with an artificial implant in order to decrease pain and improve hip functions. The technique of approach may be different for hip replacement surgery like anterior approach and posterior approach. In anterior hip replacement surgery, the incision is made on the front side to access the hip joint rather than on the back of the hip.
This surgery is performed under general anesthesia. A small incision is made on the front side of the hip. Without cutting through muscles and soft tissues, the orthopedic surgeon will try to gain the access to the hip joint just by adjusting fewer muscles present on the anterior side of the hip. Damaged hip joint is then replaced by metal implant in the same way as in the traditional hip replacement surgery. After the implant is fixed the tissues are readjusted to their original place if needed and the incision is stitched back. Bandage is finally applied to allow the incision site to recover and stay germ free.
Every surgical procedure has its own advantages over the other which make it more feasible. So it is with anterior hip replacement surgery. These advantages are listed below-
